Waiting for the players to arrive
Less than seven hours to go before we shuffle up and deal at the first AAPT for 2010, taking place at Piggs Peak Casino, Swaziland. Players have already started arriving and checking in, with registration having opened at 11h00, and will run through to 19h00 tonight.
Play starts tonight at 20h00, with Friday and Saturday’s action kicking off at 09h00. Re-buys and add-ons take place on Thursday night, with knock-outs in effect from Friday.
Blinds go up every hour, starting at 50/100, then 100/200, 150/300, with antes added for the last increase of Thursday evening, making the blinds 200/400 (50 ante).
Blinds go up on Saturday to 300/600 (100 ante), with blinds increasing every hour after that. The Ante will only increase to 200 in the last hour before lunch.
This promises to be an exciting tournament, with so many players in contention. Everyone I have spoken to over the last two days seems to have a different view on who will walk away with the title this time round. A question on everyone’s lips though is: could we have our first back-to-back champion this time round? We’ll have to wait and see!
