This is just not cricket ….
In 42 degree heat at Sunset Park here in Las Vegas, we’re sure that the king of cricket bowlers, Shane Warne, was saying just that – particularly with the motley crew of poker players on his team. These included Tony G, Jeff “The Marrickville Mauler” Fenech (Australian boxer for the uninformed), Tony Hachem (brother Joe very wisely watched from the safetly and relative cool sidelines), and none other than South Africa’s very own Super Saturday/Super Sport presenter, Neil “Chunky” Andrews.
Neil was chosen as wicket keeper to Warnie, while he demonstrated his famous ripper flipper to members of the Las Vegas Cricket Club. When Neil asked how fast the flipper was going to be, Warne replied, “You'd better wear that helmet matey!” This 888.com sponsored event, was memorable for all and not least of all due to the excessive heat, but the brilliant play by Shane & shennanigans of the rest. Tony Hachem provided his share of delightful quips, while Tony G made sure that he was not left standing in the dust to make enough runs for his side. Just 3 hours later, looking cool & very suave all these super stars arrived on the red carpet for the Ante Up for Africa Poker tournament – such is the life of a poker celeb here in Vegas!
