The Battle for Bracelets Begins …
“Ready to get fitted for your WSOP bracelet?” This is the billboard which dominates the Vegas skyline, and many of the Southern African Team believes that they are more than ready to have their bracelet snug around their wrist.
The remainder of Team All Africa Poker has finally landed in a very hot Las Vegas, with forecast record temperature highs today of 117 degrees Fahrenheit (that’s 47 degrees Celsius!) – after spending some quality hours at the luggage conveyor belts in Washington, we were finally reunited with our bags and had a relatively event-free time going through customs.
Meeting up with a few of the team around various poker tables, it is obvious that “practice makes perfect” is the motto for most, with many record breaking hours being spent in poker room chairs in the past week, all in preparation for the 38th World Series of Poker battle.
Ryan Brauer continues to show he’s not a poker “flash in the pan” as he starts Independence Day in USA – 4th of July, as third place chip leader in the final 18 of the Event # 23 of the Bellagio Cup III No Limit Hold’em Tournament. We’re watching closely for this result, and will keep you updated.
3 Piggs Poker Manager, Sandy Koor and All Africa Poker Channel Commentator, Ryan Dreyer will be among the many heading down to the RIO today to play in a WSOP Super Satellite, keeping their hopes alive of winning a seat into the Main Event. Super Saturday’s Neil Andrews will be watching closely for tips with our effervescent Director and Cameraman, Michael Collet, as they film a video diary of the journey to the WSOP.
It’s a public holiday here and much excitement in celebration, including massive fireworks displays planned for tonight … until later, Happy4th of July from Wendy & the All Africa Poker team, proudly sponsored by Piggs Peak Casino!
