The 2008 EPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Champion crowned
Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier knocked Richard Fohrenbach in 8th postion winning ($150,000). He was the first player to take his leave from the final table after it commenced this morning. He held pocket jacks just couldn’t hold up against Grospellier’s A-K. The tables then turned and Grospellier’s pocket JJ held up and Christian Harder in seventh place on the hand ($200,000). Grospellier, who should be known now as the eliminator, went up against and took out Joe “BigEgypt” Elpayaa. Elpayaa KJ could do little to save him and Elpayaa walked away with ($300,000). Not to be beaten David “The Dragon” Pham then got in on the action and called with pocket 10’s when Craig Hopkins moved all in with K 8 . Hopkins was sent packing when Pham made a set on the flop. Hopkins exited in fifth place with $450,000.However later in the tournament Pham ran into Grospellier and lost the battle after Grospellier made is flush. Pham, 2007 CardPlayer Player of the Year, received $600,000 for his 4th place finish. Next to fall was Kris Kuykendall at the hands of Hafiz Khan. Kuykendall, who was short stacked, went all-in with K Q but Khan’s A 7 held up when neither of them hit the board. Kuykendall took home a sizable 800,000 for finishing in 3rd position. Going into the Heads Up battle Grospellier took 16,200,000 whilst Khan was trailing at 7,705,000. Khan went all-in with 9 3 and Grospellier called with pocket eights. Khan had to settle $1,094,976 for his runner-up finish when Grospellier’s pockets held up. Grospellier won his first EPT title and banked $2 million for his win.
