Students Crack The Poker Face
Two high school students finally managed to crack the stony facade of The Poker Face with a daring and creative skit that left Rude Awakening’s Jeremy Mansfield and stand-up comedian Chris Forrest in stitches.
94.7 Highveld Stereo and Piggs Peak Casino, home of All Africa Poker's ‘Crack My Poker Face’ competition moved to the East Rand Mall on Saturday, where shoppers came in their droves to try and win their share of R250,000, 50 000 in cash.
Eggs were hurled, men donned suspenders, wobbly bellies were exposed and a series of acts far too stomach curdling to mention were on the cards for the day. Just when the packed crowd thought nothing could get a reaction from Chris Forrest, Dane van Tonder and Byron Davel came on stage. Wearing cutout masks – one of the country’s most controversial youth politician and the other of Chris Forrest – the duo enacted a hilarious set-up and bagged themselves R50,000.
“We should be studying for our prelims but now we’re far to excited to think of school, all we want to do is celebrate,” they said, brimming with excitement over their winnings.
It was the second attempt by the youngsters, who first went on stage impersonating Jeremy Mansfield and fellow RAW co-host Samantha Cowen. Wearing gowns and slippers, they did a risqué dance number that had the audience in hysterics but got no response from Chris Forrest.
“Dane and Byron were really funny,” said Forrest, who has seen his fair share of stunts during the start of the competition two weeks ago. “It’s refreshing to see an act that is original and daring.”
This week, the 94.7 Highveld Stereo and Piggs Peak Casino “Crack My Poker Face” competition concludes at Fourways Mall on 8th, 10th and 12th September.
