Some March 2010 AAPT stats
There are 30 newcomers to this weekend’s AAPT, out of a field of 120 – a stat not seen at the tournament for a good few years. A sign that poker is as strong as ever in SA? I would say so!
Despite the number of newbies, we have six former champions participating in the tournament, namely defending champion Ilija Martinovic (Nov 2009), Wessel Jacobs (Aug 2009), Nic Zakhem (May 2009), Darren Kramer (Aug 2008), Ray Rahme (May 2008) and Dale Winterstein (Aug 2007). We also have a number of players with WSOP experience playing, most recent of which are Warren Zackey and Mel Banfield, who will be looking to translate their 2009 WSOP experience into a win this weekend. Other players include Robert Kay, Ryan Brauer and Jay Sookoo.
