PIGGS PEAK’S OWNER TROUNCES DAY 1 C WSOP FIELD
Howard Berchowitz truly represented Piggs Peak Casino, the hosts and sponsors of All Africa Poker, when he completed Day 1 C in fourth position (provisional counts – final counts to be confirmed) in the chip count with just over 160,000 chips. Henning Granstad leads with 228,000; David Baker – 180,000 and Curt Kohlberg with 173,000. This is a remarkable achievement considering 1,978 players began play just over 13 hours prior, and just over a thousand survived the day.
This was a busy day for the Southern African contingent, with Howard Berchowitz, Sandy Koor, Ryan Eber, Allistair Didloff, Gordon Harris, Ilija Martinovic, Lolly Jackson, Claude Sacks, Daniel Callighan, Eugene du Plessis and Chris Convery all gracing the Day 1 C tables. Claude, Ilija, Lolly and Daniel didn't make it to the end of play, but the consensus was today was a tough day to get through.
Andre Johnstone and Darren Kramer have won mega satellites to play in tomorrow's Day 1 D, and we'll be watching for any late entries to the AAPT team, on the last day of Day 1 of WSOP 2008.
