Piggs Peak Casino kicks off 2010 with a bang!
The 2010 poker calendar will kick off with a bang in March with the newly structured All Africa Poker Tournament.
Piggs Peak Hotel and Casino, Swaziland will once again play host to this explosive poker experience which has a guaranteed prize pool of R3 million. All Africa Poker’s new tournament structure means that the buy-in has been reduced to R20,000. And to sweeten the deal, the starting stack has been upped to 10,000 chips, with re-buys at R5,000 for a whopping 10,000 chips and add-ons at R 7,500 for 25,000 chips. There are unlimited re-buys and one add-on for the first evening.
According to All Africa Poker Tournament Director Sandy Koor, “The new structure is a way of ensuring that our players are getting more value for their money. In addition, the lower buy in amount also means that new skills are unearthed and fresh potential exposed.”
The Tournament will start on Thursday, 11 March 2010 at 8pm. With just 120 seats available the All Africa Poker tournament expects to attract a mix of regulars including poker pro’s and esteemed hopefuls alike all vying for the title. The Main Event will culminate with the final table on Saturday, 13 March, where the prize winner will not only walk away with the prestigious title of All Africa Poker Champion, but will receive R1 million cash, with second place claiming R500,000 and third place taking home R300,000.
Reigning All Africa Poker Tournament champion Ilija Martinovic banked the whopping R1 Million prize in November 2009 and on defending his title, Martinovic is all set to pull a double-whammy. If he wins again in March, he will join the ranks of Chris Convey and Peter Vermaas, who are the only other players to have won two AAPT titles.
For those who can’t join in on the poker action, Piggs Peak Casino recently upgraded their poker room with state-of-the-art cameras, lighting and sound making better viewing pleasure. Catch the battle on All Africa Poker TV aired on DStv channel 112 from 10,30 nightly or online on www.allafricapoker.tv.
