News Peter Vermaas – Grandfather of SA Poker
When asked what the defining moment in his poker career was, he replied: “Winning my first All Africa Poker Tournament!”Since the last All Africa Poker he has not been too busy on the poker scene and has only played in two large land based events, one of which was the SA Poker Open. He has been focusing his energy on his new house in Cape Town and of course, his family. Family is very important to Peter and he is often seen being supported by them from the rails. Peter says that his lifestyle has not changed since he won his first All Africa Poker Tournament. He believes that no matter how much money you win or how successful you are, you should always remain grounded.
Peter’s best advice for new aspiring players is, “Start small and play within your means. Never play stakes where you can be bullied!” These are wise words from a man who has been playing poker for decades. If you speak to any poker player they will all tell you that experience is the greatest teacher, and that you will learn the most by watching experienced poker players play. You can catch Peter Vermaas, among other vastly experienced poker players, on the All Africa Poker Channel DSTV 393, and learn from the Grandfather of SA Poker, first hand.
