John Tabatabai confirms AAPT seat
Upping the star status of the player field in this weekend’s All Africa Poker Tournament even more, last year’s second place winner of the WSOPE John Tabatabai, has confirmed that he will be participating in this quarterly installment of the AAPT- starting tonight at Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino, Swaziland.
The British player gained the attention of the poker fraternity and the whole world, when he played his way to the final table in the coveted inaugural WSOPE (World Series of Poker Europe) last year. He landed himself a phenomenal 2nd place finish, knocked out by Norwegian Poker sensation Annette Obrestad-after going all in.
The community cards were 2c 5c 6c 7h Qh, Obrestad clutching pocket sevens and Tabatabai holding 5s 6d. Tabatabai went home with a very handsome first time money finish of £570,150.00 to add to his bank roll! Prior to this huge international achievement, John was fairly unknown, but what a way to announce your arrival on the poker scene!
Looks like our locals are going to have to keep an eye on this player! With a great competition field, the upcoming AAPT is definitively not to be missed.
