Jamie Gold set to host charity tournament during Cannes Film Festival
While thousands of people will be jetting off to France for the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in a few days, some of the crème de la crème in poker are preparing to flex their poker muscle for a French charity tournament set to take place during the same period, on the 17th of May 2009. The “Celebrity Gaming Night” will be jointly hosted by Jamie Gold, 2006 WSOP Main Event winner, and well-known actor Ed Norton, who also starred in the poker film “Rounders”.
The chosen venue for the tournament is the plush Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes on the French Riviera, which is very close to where the Festival de Cannes will occur. The proceeds of the tournament will be donated to 2 different charity organisations: the Sunflower Children and the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundations. The victor will also walk away with a fully paid package to the 2009 WSOP that includes a seat to the $10,000 Buy-In Main Event, as well as one-on-one personal poker coaching from Jamie Gold himself.
