November Nine 2010

And then there were Nine! The final table for the 2010 WSOP is set and now it’s the gruelling wait to November to see who will earn the bracelet and the $8,944,138 first prize. Out of the nine players left, only one is over 30 years – just goes to show that the young guys are taking the poker world by storm!

All Africa Poker Champion through to Day 5 WSOP

We are happy to report that previous All Africa Poker Champion Greg Ronaldson is going strong and has made it through to Day 5 at the WSOP Main Event. Greg has 395,000 chips whilst the average stack is 382,526. Chip leader is Tony Dunst on 1,546,000 and on the other end of the table in 574th position is Nick Filippopoulos with 9,500 chips.

Unfortunately Ray Rahme, who came third in the 2007 WSOP Main Event, busted out just before the money. Well played Ray!

Day 1 of WSOP comes to an end

Day 1 of the WSOP has come to a close and now it’s on to the next round! Some of our Players through to Day 2 WSOP are:

WSOP update

WSOP Weekend update: Phil Gordon wins Ante Up for Africa and donates all $129,086 of his winnings to the charity. Set up by actor Don Cheadle and poker pro Annie Duke, Ante up for Africa has raised over $4 Million for the continent.

Sam Trickett placed 7th in Event #52: No-Limit Hold’em / Six Handed earning $141,168. Great performance Sam!

And now the day we have all been waiting for has arrived! Day 1A of the Main Event starts today and we are wishing all our players the best of luck!

Sam Trickett at WSOP

Sam Trickett, an international poker player who played in the last All Africa Poker Tournament, is currently lying in third position in Event #52: No-Limit Hold’em / Six Handed. Not only is Sam challenging for top spot and but it’s also his birthday today! We think $1,315,518 for first place would make an amazing present!

The Mouth leads Tournament of Champs

Mike “The Mouth” Matusow is currently leading the WSOP Tournament of Champions followed by Huck Seed and Johnny Chan. Let’s see if Matusow is capable of repeating his 2005 WSOP Tournament of Champions victory! The tournament resumes on Saturday and we will post the updates here.

Jarred Solomon cashes again!

What a great way to start off the week! Our All Africa Poker regulars are creating amazing results at the 2010 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Jarred Solomon made his second final table over the weekend. Jarred took 6th place in Event #44: Mixed Hold’em (Limit/No-Limit) and brought in $46,562 for his efforts. Well done Jarred!

And hot off the press, Steven Brown has also finished in 6th place in Event #45: No-Limit Hold’em and wins $124,00. Well done Steven!

Cashes at the WSOP

We are happy to report that 4 of our star players have so far cashed at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Jarred Solomon cashed $110,903 when he placed 5th place in the $2,500 No Limit Six Handed Event. Ronit Chamani made $10,833 when she placed 10th in the $1000 No Limit Ladies Championship.

Also doing well are partners Cyril Jassinowsky and Melanie Banfield. Cyril cashed $2,828 in $1,500 No Limit Holdem – Six handed Event and Melanie cashed $2,289 in the $1,000 No Limit Holdem event.

Phil Ivey takes another bracelet

Phil Ivey has just proven yet again why many consider him the best poker player in the world. Ivey has just taken his 8th World Series of Poker title when he won Event #37 r3,000 H.O.R.S.E.
