Ryan Eber wins heads up at Rumble in the Jungle

Sandy Koor & Ryan Eber's heads up has ended with Ryan Eber winning the $150,000 first prize and gold & diamond winners bracelet. 2nd placed Koor wins $50,000.

The money and the bracelet are on the table

The Odyssey International sponsored gold and diamond bracelet and US$150,000 cash have been laid on the table, to whet the palates of heads up contenders Ryan Eber and Sandy Koor.

Eber is a previous All Africa Poker Millionaire champion and Sandy Koor has previous live tournament play experience at the World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event and Montecarlo Millions. Both players are highly experienced and this title is either of theirs to win.

Oliver Berman exits in quick succession

Sitting severely short-stacked Oliver's Q 10 against Ryan Eber's K K on a board of A 4 A Q 3 was not enought to keep him in the tournament and exits in 3rd position with US$30,000.

Sandy Koor and Ryan Eber are now heads up with even chip stacks, playing for the first prize of $150,000 and the tournament winners gold bracelet.

Greg Ronaldson exits in 4th place

Greg Ronaldson is disappointed with the call he made which saw him exit his tournament in 4th place, in his third final table in a row.

Ronaldson leaves the tournament with US$20,000, so isn't entirely unhappy, but is looking to place higher in his next play at the All Africa Poker. He felt he made a bad call when he went against his read on Oliver Berman, but in all it was a good and enjoyable tournament.

Three players remain, Sandy Koor, Ryan Eber and Oliver Berman

Last Tanzanian exits tournie in 5th place

The final four players at the table are representatives of South Africa, and all solid players.

Mrs Lee was short stacked and had to go all in with A 2, against Ryan Eber's J 10. The flop came A Q K and it was all over for first time tournament player Mrs Lee. She has been playing poker for 3 months and is very happy to have come this far, with a very handsome US$15,000 prize.

The remaining players are :

Sandy Koor, chip leader with 1,044,000; Ryan Eber in second position with 635,000; Oliver Berman with 565,000 and Greg Ronaldson with 300,000.

Joe Rahme rivered by Sandy Koor

Ocean Basket sponsored player Joe-boy Rahme has exited the tournament in 6th place with US$10,000 after being rivered by 3 Piggs Poker Manager, Sandy Koor.

Rahme had 10 Q, Koor had 8 9. The flop came Q K 7, then in a sickening turn of the cards the board finished with 8 8, winning Koor the hand and knocking Rahme out.

Joe was very complimentary about the tournament, saying that “everything was fantastic, the food, the accomodation – it was all very good value.”

Joe has had a good run in live tournament play with his 2nd place at Emporers at the end of September winning R300,000 and he's looking forward to carrying this good form through to the All Africa Poker tournament on 16th November.

Jarred Solomon exits in 7th position

A bitterly disappointed Jarred Solomon has gone out of the Rumble in the Jungle tournament, where his A J lost against Greg Ronaldson's pocket 8's.

In post tournament interview Solomon rued the fact that he went into the final table with a strong chip presence and made too many moves, losing the majority of his stack to put him in a weak position.

During the interview Sandy Koor took his K K into a big hand with Joe Rahme's 10 10 and his hand held up, taking in a significant pot.

John Barbis out in 8th place

Against Ryan Eber's A J, John Barbis ended his first significant live tournament with 7 8 spades with A Q 2 coming on the flop and no further help for Barbis.

Barbis thoroughly enjoyed the tournament, and the US$5,000 prize money certainly had him smiling. He commented that this tournament was a brilliant holiday option, never mind the cash games for those whose tournament didn't go that well.

John mostly plays internet games on 25/50 and 50/100 tables under the alias of PLATINUM, and will be playing in the forthcoming All Africa Poker tournament being held at Piggs Peak Casino in Swaziland in two weeks time.

His advice to players who want to try out live poker tournaments, watch DSTV Channel 393 – All Africa Poker channel for tips and how to play, and to get to know the players.

Stuart Brodie out in 9th position

With his cheque of US$3,750 for 9th position, Stuart Brodie is “pretty happy” with his performance at his first Rumble in the Jungle tournament, where he has gone the deepest in all his live tournament ventures, having played in the Sun City tournament previously. He has been playing for just over two years and plays mostly online in 5/10; 10/20 and 15/30 games.

He found playing at the final table, amongst some of the biggest names in Southern African poker, quite intimidating, but is pleased at the results. Stuart lost out to Oliver Berman's set of 7's against his A 3, with A 3 coming on the flop.

His advice to other players, “Make sure you can afford to gamble when playing in a re-buy tournament – there are many players with a lot of money in these tournies.” Stuart only took one re-buy and one add-on.
