Danny K defends his title

It’s all over! Three hands and Danny’s Ace four paired up to clinch the final hand and successfully defend his title. Kurt was visibly disappointed but the charities were the real winners tonight.

R30,000 goes to the Walter Sisulu Paediatric Centre and R100,000 to the Foundation of Love Hospice as the nominated charities of Kurt Darren and Danny K respectively.

Danny K is the 2008 All Africa Poker Celebrity Challenge Champion.

Danny K decimated Ed Jordans chip stack after the biggest pot of the night, down to a paltry 1000 chips. Hennie Cronje added the final nail when he hit his two on the river eliminating Ed in fourth place. R20000 courtesy of Ed’s poker prowess will be going to his nominated charity, the Tapologo AIDS Hospice. Not bad for an absolute beginner.

In his own words: “I know what the fuss is all about! Its exciting, the rush of being challenged and having the cards fall your way. What fun!”

The Last Word

Chris Wilson from IOL is the final media player to be eliminated. He expressed his joy at how well he did and that he has also been bitten by the poker bug. Cape Town had another poker player to add to its growing ranks.

Ed Jordan, Kurt Darren and Danny K are now ganging up on Hennie, the last surviving not-so-famous person at the table…

Last call for Lee-Ann

The last lady has been eliminated!

Kurt Darren’s AQ held up against Darren Scott’s AJ and Lee-Ann’s K4. The hand became interesting when the 4 came on the turn to give Lee-Ann the lead after a rag flop but the cruel Ace on the cruel river dashed the hopes of the magnificent model.

Lee-Ann’s final words: I love it, I love it, I love it…

Lucky Sevens and desperate all-ins.

Danny K triples up off Elana Afrika and Ed Jordan with pocket sevens. Ace highs from both callers did not improve.

Elana Afrika is eliminated after being crippled by Danny’s previous all-in. Her A 9 suited did not hold up against a rag hand on a rag flop.

With tears in her eyes, now that she finally removes her mirror glasses, she says, “It’s been a hectic day and it’s the most fun I’ve ever had with so many men.”

Short stacked as he was, Chester told Conrad Koch not to put all 1300 chips into the pot. Conrad being human felt he knew better. Chester will probably not let Conrad live down his bad judgement.

Colin crashes

SA’s heartthrob TV presenter and actor has been eliminated just before the final table. He pushed all in with middle pair, a flush draw and a straight draw and hit none of his many outs. Ed Jordan, who is almost as popular with the ladies as Colin, had the dominating hand that held up through a scary turn and river.

The tables will now be joined into one for the final showdown.
