Catching up with some of the players
As the players for this weekend’s All Africa Poker tournament continue to trickle into Piggs Peak Casino, we caught up with a few players to find out what their strategy is going into tonight’s play.
Evro Psiloyenis, playing in his third AAPT this weekend says that he is here to collect his money this time around. We found him chilling at the hotel bar after a quick 1h40min helicopter ride in on his R44 chopper. He plans to “play wild” tonight with the re-buys and add-ons, but will tighten up tomorrow. This is in stark contrast to the two first timers we spoke to – Jaco Smith and Mike Saltwedel, who both plan to play tight tonight to make it through the wild re-buy period and survive until tomorrow. Both players won their seats through satellite games and confessed to being a little nervous for such a big live tournament. Jaco is actually playing in his first live tournament tonight, while Mike has played in a few smaller tourneys over the last six years, but has tightened up his game to get a few placings recently and give him confidence going into the weekend.
