Aussie Millions Update
In the last two days of the Aussie Millions, there was one player who dominated the final tables. On day three, nineteen year old Jimmy “Gobboboy” Fricke from Illinois, raised eyebrows and temperatures, when he played his way to the chip leader spot, systematically working his way through the pack of 80 survivors (remaining from the previous day’s tournament) to land himself the chip leader spot, and one of the 7 finalists who would make it through to the next round. Fricke showed that he means business when he knocked out the previous day’s chip leader Haralabos Voulgaris –sending Voulgaris packing with a 21st place score and entering the following day with a chip stack totalling an impressive $2.6 million.
However, Fricke’s already established reputation of being a terror at the tables is only beginning to do him justice. In day four, he snubbed one player after another as he played on, until finally, to no one’s surprise, he ended up with the top spot after playing until 2am. Fricke was runner up in last year’s Aussie Millions last year and at his current rate it’s no surprise that the young player achieved the success that he did, and still will. Soon he’ll be old enough to participate in the WSOP, and then we’ll probably be hearing allot more from the American teenager!
His past top spots include an array of final online tournament finishes, and second place in 2007’s Aussie millions. Out of the seven tournaments he participated in, he’s landed himself in the top place three times and second spot 2 times (that’s still excluding his success in 2008). As of Feb 2007 he has earned over $1 million, which for someone his age –needless to say- is a phenomenal achievement. So, watch this space to see what else lies in store, in the exciting event!
