Herewith Shuffle's thoughts after exiting from “Where in the World is Shuffle … Facebook”
“After a gruelling Thursday, play only started at 1pm today during the first level i didn't connect very well with the boards so i lost about 120k in the process. The next level was substantially more expensive so it was important to pick up some pots in level 17 in order to stay in touch with the field.
A solid player raised to 17k in mid. position, the button called and so did i from the big blind with 2d2c. The flop came down Kh3c2h, i decided i was going to check raise the flop if anyone bet. The original raiser bet 24k, button folded and i re-raised to 68k, then to my surprise i got re-raised 90k when i only had 224k left. I promptly moved in and was called by 33….
Unfortunately i couldn't improve, oh well a bit of a cooler. No regrets here though as i have had my fair share of good fortune throughout this tournament. If anyone offered my 316th place (top 5%) of a 6800 man field and $32000, i woulda accepted it on the spot.
This was great for my confidence, i achieved my dream of 3 years ago of playing in the main event and cashing. There are only a few things in life more satisfying than achieving one's dreams. Right now i can't think of any though …lol my brain a bit fried. In retrospect Ray achievements last year have been put into more perspective.
This tourney is the Comrades Marathon of poker, the mental intensity and emotional swings is gruelling to say the least… Would i do it again? Absolutely, omg i sound like those poor runners at the end of Comrades in the medical tent … haha.
On a final note, thank you to all the messages and to the saffers, who came down to the Rio to support … It was really awesome.
Shuff off to let his hair down this weekend….be back Monday…adios”
