All Africa Poker goes All In for the 2008 WSOP
No other tournament in Southern Africa has made entry to the World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event so accessible. Seven players have already won their WSOP seats at the All Africa Poker tournament, and now with nine more WSOP seat packages in the prize pool for the next AAPT Main Event, it is fast becoming the tournament of the year.
With the announcement from Piggs Peak Casino, Swaziland that the R3,500,000 All Africa Poker Tournament will be held from 29 May to 1 June 2008 at Piggs Peak Hotel and Casino, Swaziland, seats are going fast.
As mentioned previously, this tournament is a re-buy tournament with the first four hours of the tournament being the rebuy period. The first prize is One Million Rand and the top NINE placed players will each win World Series of Poker packages to the value of R150,000. In other words, make the AAPT Final Table and you have earned your place on Team All Africa Poker, going to this year’s World Series Of Poker in Las Vegas.
The AAPT, which starts on Thursday 29 May 2008 at 8pm, has a R23,000 Buy-in which is made up of R20,000 going to the prize pool and R3,000 for the accommodation, food and beverage package. The package includes 1 Main Event Tournament seat, a starting chip stack of 5,000, 3 nights accommodation at Orion Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino for the player and one partner, all meals and drinks in the poker room. For players sharing a room at Orion Piggs Peak Hotel & Casino with another tournament player there will be a R2,500 rebate for each player.
The AAPT continues to shine with celebrity stars with Ed Jordon confirming that he will be taking his seat at this prestige event. Ed placed third at the recent All Africa Poker Celebrity Charity Challenge, winning R20,000 for his charity, Tapologo Hospice. Along with Ed, Karin Hasseriis and Kevin Moss, who both have complimentary seats to this tournament, will be vying for the WSOP packages. Karin received her freeroll for being the top finishing lady and Kevin for placing in the bubble position in the February AAPT. Other regular’s returning to the poker table are father and son combo, Brian and Dale Winterstein as well as poker great Ray Rahme, who will have just returned from his showing at the Monte Carlo Millions tournament in Europe.
