Moral of the story – only play poker in licensed casino’s.

Toby Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been named amongst others to have allegedly took part in the unlicensed poker games along in exclusive hotels, including The Four Seasons and the Beverly Hills Hotel. The news broke after An FBI investigation into Brad Ruderman, the CEO of Ruderman Capital Partners, uncovered how he used at least $5 million of investor money to take part in these games were are deemed illegal as the operators were not a licensed poker game operator nor was the venue at where the high-stakes games were held were not licensed. Its seems that the Hollywood star’s, namely Toby Maguire, maybe investigated to see how much of his winners were that of the investors and he may be sued to return the funds.

Piggs Peak Casino has its day on court.

Piggs Peak Casino has confirmed that their appeal will be heard in the Appeal Court in Bloemfontein on 23 August 2011. The final judgment should be announced shortly thereafter, at least within a few weeks. This judgment will determine the legality of online gambling for South African residents. We will keep you posted.

Archer starts his WSOP with a bang.

Jarred “Archer” Solomon went heads up against Amir Lehavot in the WSOP Event 7: $10,000 Pot-Limit Holdem Championship. Solomon was the shorter of the stacks heading into the Heads Up match and after several attacks on his stack, it was his Ace Jack that went up against Lehavot’s Ace Queen. The Flop dealt Q, Q, T but it was the Turn that sealed the deal with another T. The River, a 2, made no difference and Solomon exited in 2nd spot and walks away with $354,460 whilst Lehavot banked $573,456 as well as the converted WSOP gold bracelet.
