Sluggish after lunch

The action is slow after lunch as players settle back into the rhythm.

Brian Winterstein has been eliminated in 68th position when his A 9 was outkicked by John Abrosies A Q.

Mark Lifman is pushing his stack around. JP Giraud pushed allin with A J and was called by Lifman with… A J. No scares and the pot is split.

Topol topples

Pretty in Pink

Stanley Topol found himself in the unenviable position of holding A Q to the K K of Conrad Coetzer and Nic Zakhem! He hit his Queen but got no more help and Coetzer and Zakhem split his chips whilst he walks out in 71st position.

Nick Katsapas made a great move with a wrong read. He played with 4 5 on the button, hit the 4 on the flop and tried to squeeze Steven Brown out of the hand who he thought had A J and had missed the flop. He was right about missing the flop, unfortunately Brown had A A and eliminated Katsapas in 70th spot.

Wayne Du Preez also tried a move with 4 5 and he found John Abrosie with K K. He also caught a piece of the flop but not enough. Out in 69th position.

Mixed results for the Ladies

It was only a matter of time before the inevitable set over set scenario reared its ugly head. Anthony Gordon thought he was in a great position with middle set but was quite horrified to find Eric Brand with top set. He could not find his 1-outer and is eliminated from table one in a most unfortunate manner in 75th place.

Paul Spies was already celebrating hitting his set of tens on the turn and did not notice that this gave Mark Lifman a royal flush draw. The river was not the flush but it was the straight and Spies leaves in a confused state in 74th place.

Michael Gossayn found the ladies and the ladies attracted the Kings of Kramer. Kramer sealed the hand with a third King on the turn. Gossayn roars no more, out in 73rd spot.

Gonasagren Moodley made his big move with A 2 and walked into Oliver Berman’s ladies. He did not catch up and moves on in 72nd place.

Hitting the right cards

Rudolf Fourie was short stacked and pushed with 10 10. He was unfortunate to find Mitchell Anthony with American Airlines and has been eliminated in 78th position.

Warren Zackey falls victim at the TV table and is out in 77th spot.

Craig Krull was unlucky to not hold up with Q Q against the A K of Darren Chandler. He goes home in 76th place.

Marlene goes home

Desmond Oliphant was drawing to the nut flush against Theodarin Poovalingam who had flopped the 7-high flush. The two red cards were a heartbreak for Oliphant who is out in 80th .

Marlene Lingenfelder could not emulate her husband and hold up against Mark Lifman who woke up with Aces to her Jacks. She is the first lady eliminated, out in 79th place.

Missing his draw

Simon Schonfeldt falls at the hands of Robert Kay. His dominated A 5 (to A Q) had a lifeline with a flush draw but it was not meant to be and he is out in 83rd place.

Bennie Lingenfelder has managed to take a chunk out of Mark Lifman when his Q Q miraculously held up against the 5 5 of the very in form Lifman.

Nick Sissou has left MJ Peters looking bleak by winning a huge pot with a set of Kings.

Danny K could not get going in this tournament and ends his run in 82nd place.

Alexi Hadjidakis went from one of the overnight chipleaders to the short stack to the rail. Out in 81st place.

The Lifman show continues

Suck outs by Moon and Lifman

Jurie Meyer was eliminated earlier in 86th position.

Francis Vanderlinden is out in 85th spot.

Jarred Solomon who had over 45000 chips after the count was looking good for a huge double-up against Mark Lifman with A K vs A Q. His luck ran just as good as Phil Ivey’s when he was in exactly the same position at the final table of the WSOP against Darvin Moon. Just as Moon hit the Queen three-outer so did Lifman on the river. Jarred Solomon leaves in disappointment in 84th place.
