Bluff Player of the Year

Bluff Magazine have just announced their Player of Year list. Topping the lot is Jason Mercier followed by Cornel Cimpan and David Paul Steicke. Mercier, who hails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, raked 1214.18 points to gain the highly coverted top spot. The unique Bluff point system awards players “based on overall finish, field size and tournament buy-in.”

All Africa Poker Players Score in Bluff Rankings

The November All Africa Poker Tournament has just been added to the Bluff Magazine Player Ranking and we are proud to say our guys are top of the list! Our very own Ryan Dreyer from Ask The Commentators takes the top spot with 790 points. Congrats Rhino! Here are the top ten Southern African players:

Ilija Martinovic makes bank!

The 19th All Africa Poker Tournament is over and this winner is one of the most popular to date. Ilija Martinovic aka the White Eagle came back from a minuscule chip stack to take a commanding lead from Friday night and never looked back. At no point did he relinquish that lead or look uncomfortable. He was superbly confident and his usual exuberant self even when he took big knocks. He was the epitome of what Aggressive means in poker terms and he took advantage of every weakness he could see.
This was not his first final table and his experience showed. A worthy and most popular winner by anybody’s standards!

A fitting end to the last All Africa of 2009. See you in 2010!

No one can fly higher than an eagle

Hand 128: Ilija raises 80k and Eben goes all-in with his fast depleting stack. We don’t see it but Eben must be in pure panic when Ilija makes the call.
Eben shows: The Barry Hilton hand / The flat tire (J 4)
Ilija made the call with Q 10.

Flop: 6 10 8 – Ilija hits one of his cards and is even further ahead
Turn: 7 – Hope for Eben, any 9 or Jack for the win.
River :2 – A dud!

Eben Lottering has lost the hand and finishes in 2nd position winning a beautiful R 600 000 and a Samsung Star.

Ilija Martinovic is the new All Africa Poker Tournament Champion and wins a amgical R 1 000 000 and a Samsung Star.

Turn: 4 – Ilija bets 130k and wins the hand.

Hand 125: Ilija raises 200k and takes the win.

Hand 126: Ilija completes his SB and we see a flop.
Flop: 5 9 9 – Ilija bets 100k and its good

Hand 127: Eben completes his SB and Ilija checks
Flop: K 10 K – Eben bets 50k and is called
Turn: Q – checks
River: 5 – Ilija bets 150k and Eben calls
Ilija shows the Q and Eben mucks

Turn: A – check/check

Ilija moves all-in and Peter snap calls. Peter shows trip Jacks but Ilija made the miracle river and show full house nines over Jacks!

“Who can stop me now?” screams the White Eagle.

Peter Nilson finishes in 3rd position and wins R 425 000
