Oh my nerves …

To borrow a phrase, “Oh my nerves” … the team (except for Warren Zackey) are having a torrid time out there. “Card dead … didn't play a hand in 10 rotations … short stacked … ” these were the key phrases heard during the last break of the evening. Warren is sitting very comfortably with 498,000; while Ryan Brauer has 115,000; Kinesh Pather – 76,000; Ronit Chamani – 50,000; Mel Banfield – 51,000 and Ryan Dreyer – 42,300. It was confirmed that Ray Rahme went out just before the dinner break.

But despite these tough, grinding hours – they pumped each other up, offered words of encouragement and headed back heads held high into the tournament room.

With 930 players remaining (282 players away from the cash!) on blinds of 1500/3000 and a 400 ante, it really is crunch time for the team at the World Series of Poker.

We got to the table on the turn with the board reading {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} . Phil Hellmuth was facing a bet of 20,000 from his opponent. It appeared as if Hellmuth checked over to his opponent on the turn. There was also nearly 50,000 chips in the pot. Hellmuth asked for a count after a few moments and the player responded, “About 140,000 left.” Hellmuth then wanted an exact count and the dealer took over.

“142,000.” said the dealer.

“Okay, I'm all in.” announced Hellmuth.

“I call.” announced his opponent.

Hellmuth tabled pocket kings, {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} , and his opponent showed {9-Spades} {9-Clubs} . The set-over-set cooler had Hellmuth looking to move upwards of 600,000 if he could dodge the one out his opponent had. The river was the {8-Spades} and Hellmuth's opponent got up and exited the tournament.

With that pot, Hellmuth is now at 595,000 chips.

Dinner break counts

The day has been a grind for most and with 1,071 players remaining and average chip stack at 182,000, the South Africans are feeling the pressure.

Dinner break chip counts : Warren Zackey – 458,000; Ryan Brauer – 168,000; Mel Banfield; 140,000; Kinesh Pather – 85,000; Ryan Dreyer – 76,000; Ronit Chamani – 75,000; Ray Rahme – (has been moved, couldn't find him).

Ryan Brauer went from around 40K to 168K in a space of half an hour before the break, really hectic table – FBT was heard commenting that the standard of play is atrocious at his table. Well as long as it remains in your favour Ryan, we won't complain! The sale of Red Bulls and Starbucks might sky rocket during the final two levels – energy is low and exhaustion is setting in.
