Negreanu dodges WSOP bracelet no.5
It seemed that Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu was in for the home stretch when he, with the leading chip stack, went heads-up against Brock “T Soprano” Parker in the $2 500 Six-Handed No Limit event Limit Hold’em Event #14 at the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) earlier this week. The two players had outlasted a 367 strong player field and were competing for the biggest share of the $844,100 prize pool and that precious WSOP bracelet.
Parker steadily grew his chip stack and gained the lead on Negreanu, who was going on tilt. After three gruelling days of play, Negreanu’s fate was sealed when went all in holding Kh- 10d on a board of Ah- 10s- 6d-4s-8s… But Parker held that winning Ace and it was all over for Daniel Negreanu.
Negreanu was just one bracelet away from being the only other person, besides Phil Hellmuth, to win 5 Limit Hold’em victories in the WSOP’s history. He walked away with a consolation $138,280 prize for his second place finish and Parker went home with a $223,697 sized reward for winning his first WSOP bracelet.
