Brent Graham down to his lowest weight in years!

Brent Graham, who took up the weight loss challenge last year in order to attend the All Africa Poker Tournament in February, is down to his lowest weith in years! Graham, who is down to 106kg from 123kg, looks set to meet Sandy's challenge of reaching his lowest weight of under 100kg and getting fully comped for the All Africa Tournament. The first Aussie to win the Aussie Millions

The 2009 Aussie Millions has finally concluded earlier this week and for the first time ever, an Aussie claimed the title. This follows a heartfelt appeal from Joe Hachem on the day that the Main Event kicked off: “”I think it's about time an Aussie took home the title. Get your acts together!”

As a WSOP and WPT title holder with more than $10million in poker earnings, the odds were certainly in Hachem’s favour. But it was a complete underdog virtually unknown on the poker scene, Scott Stewart, that nabbed that coveted title from close to 700 wannabes from around the world. For his victory, Scott earned a handsome prize of just over $1.3million, as well as that golden champion’s bracelet. “It's nice to bring one home for the team,” he was overheard saying, after scooping up all his cash and throwing it into the air.

The All Africa Poker Crew would also like to extend warm congratulations to two of our own who also managed to cash in the 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event. Jarred Solomon finished in the 63rd position, earning himself a prize of $15,000. He then walked right over to participate in another circuit event, the $5,300 Heads Up Championship, where he finished 3rd and earned yet another prize of $40,000!

Ray Rahme finished deep in the tournament as well. He illustrated some brilliant play throughout, but was finally sent to the rail in 36th place, for which he collected a handsome amount of $30,000. Jarred, Ray… well done. You have once again made us proud!

Poker elite take to the felt for one of the biggest cash games in history

This past weekend, on Sunday 25th of January 2009, the 2009 Aussie Millions opened what is said to be one of the biggest high-stakes games in history. “The Million Dollar Poker Cash Game” has a jaw dropping minimum buy-in of AUD$1 million and is played in head-to-head format, with a variety of poker games.

Naturally, only some of the boldest and most “deep-pocketed” poker pro’s took up the challenge. The games therefore began with none other than two of the world’s most feared online poker players: Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius, who had to carry their stakes to the table in briefcases.

By the time Antonius finished up a little more than $500,000 in play, they were joined by some other big guns on the poker scene such as Phil Laak, Jamie Pickering, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson and Tom Dwan, after which the blinds “dropped” to $500/$1,000. By the end the first session, Jamie Pickering made $100,000 profit, whilst Phil Laak was $250,000 down. All in a day’s play….

Team All Africa Poker heads home.

Whislt Ray is still hanging in at the Main Event, Melanie Banfield and Evern Van Niekerk try their luck in the $1,100 Mixed Holdem. The rest of the members are swopping stories about their experience at the 2009 Aussie Millions and definately want to come back next year to better their performance.

Solomon exits $5,300 Heads Up Championship

Alec “traheho” Torelli has defeated Jarred Solomon and will met John Tabatabai in the finals. Well done Jarred, you should be proud of yourself considering you played the Main Event and Heads Up semi's all within minutes of each other.

Gowen knocks Solomon out of the Main Event

Shortly after the bubble burst Jarred's table was broken and he landed up on a table that had Clonie Gowen and Kelly Kim,who placed 8th at the 2008 WSOP. Jarred went all in with 8 9 when he flopped a middle pair. Clonie called with J 9. The turn brought a 10 and the river a 7 which ment Clonie took down the pot with the higher kicker. Jarred exited the Main Event in 63rd position and walks away with $15, 000 for his efforts.

The Bubble bursts!

After 30 minutes of hand by hand play the bubble final burst and we have made it to the money. Solomon, Rahme and Babaloo are in the money.

Solomon moves All-in ……

I never thought I would ever say this…No more diamonds! In a play that brought the tournament to a stop, Jarred's KC 10S went up against KD 10C, the flop 10 5 4 all diamonds. Jarred stands up from his chair and starts jumping. A diamond will send him home. The turn is a QC, the tension mounts, one more card…………AC on the river and Jarred survives. The pot is split. We are on the bubble and playing hand for hand. One more person to fall out for Ray and Jarred make the money. Jarred is on 57, 000 and Ray is on 290, 000.

Solomon and Rahme survive another session.

As we go to break Jarred is sitting on 70, 000 and ray on 180, 000. There are 70 players left, so we are almost in the money boys!
Average chip stack is 192, 000 and next blinds are 1, 200/ 2,400.
