Final seat at AAPT secured
With less than 21 hours left until the start of the All Africa Poker Tournament at Piggs Peak Casino Swaziland, Tony Sneedon from Derivco has secured a seat by winning a free-roll tournament held for members of the company.
10 players took part, most in their first live tournament, playing at the AAPT main table – an amazing experience for any level of player.
Play started off at 20h00, but within three hours the game was heads up between Derivco work colleagues, Steve and Tony.
At this point of the evening blinds were at 1000/2000 and the players wasted no time in sorting out a winner. The first hand in heads up play drew an all-in call from the short stacked Steve, with K J. Tony called with A 5, so was behind pre-flop, but that soon changed when the flop came A A 2, giving Tony an unassailable lead. However, there was more to come, as the turn and river brought two 7s, giving Tony an Aces Full full house and the win.
“This was a great experience for all the Derivco team, and great revenge for me as I lost out to Steve in heads up play before, missing out on a trip to the Bahamas,” said Sneedon. “I am really looking forward to the AAPT this weekend, as I have never played in a tournament of this size before. My aim is to get in there and not be intimidated by the more experienced players and see where I end up.”
Tony will be hoping for some “Moneymaker” magic this weekend when he starts playing against SA’s best poker players this weekend. Play gets under way at 20h00 tomorrow (Thursday 11 March). You can track his progress here on the All Africa Poker blog.
